The first time I met June was in 8th or 9th grade. She was the new kid in the class. She came into the room and the teacher asked her to introduce herself. From the first sentence she had everyone hypnotized by her sweet southern drawl and to top it off, when the teacher asked what she wanted to be when she grew up she said with every drop of that southern accent "I would like to be a kindergarten teacher"! It was either pure sincerity or brilliant strategy because either way she secured her spot In the popular girl circle! It left an impression on me that I remember 45 yrs later.
